JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman hit by a vehicle while crossing Merrill Road with her bicycle on Thursday died from her injuries at the hospital Friday. Police released her identity Monday morning.
Gilda Moore, 68, was hit by a vehicle while crossing the 6100 block of
Merrill Road, according to a news release from Jacksonville Sheriff's
Office Public Information Officer Shannon Hartley.
Hartley said police were called to the scene a little before 7 p.m. Thursday night.
Traffic homicide investigators determined Moore was crossing Merrill Road in a southbound direction on a bicycle. At the same time, a vehicle was attempting to turn east onto Merrill Road from southbound Searchwood Drive.
Hartley said both Moore and the driver of the vehicle failed to see each other until just before impact.
Moore was knocked off her bicycle. She was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Hartley said Moore died from her injuries Friday.
The investigation is still continuing.
