SANDERSVILLE, Ga. -- Ghost hunters from South Carolina paid a visit to the Old Jail Museum in Sandersville to try to detect whether there's paranormal activity there.

WMAZ-TV reports that a group of about 10 investigators from Lost Souls Paranormal spent Saturday night in the building. They used machines that measure electronic magnetic fields, voice recorders, motion sensors and cameras.

Some members of the museum staff say they've had experiences with a ghost called Essie. Essie died at 16 in 1905 from injuries suffered when her dress caught fire as she sat near her fireplace.

The investigators plan to scour their video footage and other recordings and provide a full report to the Washington County Historical Society in two weeks.
