JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sanya Richards-Ross, the wife of Jaguars cornerback Aaron Ross, won a gold medal in the womens 400 meter dash while the Jaguars were in the middle of practice on Sunday afternoon.
A few months ago, Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey gave Aaron Ross permission to miss a few days of training camp so he could travel to London to watch his wife compete.
On Sunday, Mularkey decided to make arrangements to have his team watch a taped Internet broadcast of the womens 400 meter final on the JumboTron at EverBank Field after practice.
Fans who attended practice were also welcome to watch the race along with the players who then signed autographs for the fans afterwards. Before the players watched the race, fans and media were instructed not to inform the players of the results of the race.
Aaron Ross is scheduled to travel back to Jacksonville on Monday. His former team, the New York Giants, will visit EverBank Field on Friday evening for the first preseason game.
Richards-Ross also competed in the 2008 Olympics, but Aaron Ross was a rookie that year and was not allowed to travel to Beijing to watch the race in person.
