JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It's tax-free weekend so get the kids ready to head back to school with a variety of sales and events. Here's a list of what you don't want to miss.

SATURDAY AUGUST 4, 2012

ST. JOHNS TOWN CENTER TAX FREE WEEKEND: Get out and do some back to school shopping for tax-free weekend! The St. Johns Town Center and Wolfson Children's Hospital invite you to a free weekend of family-friendly activities during Florida's tax-free weekend, August 3-5. Starting 10 a.m. on Aug 3, attendees can find retailers and restaurants offering specials and discounts in exchange for donations to Wolfson Children's Hospital. THE AVENUES BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT: The Jacksonville community is invited to the mall to enjoy a Back to School Event, offering families an exciting shopping environment complete with entertainment, programming and the hottest back to school styles from The Avenues retailers. Back to School will feature fashion shows, giveaways, a kid zone and more! It will take place Saturday, August 4, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

FIRST WEEKEND UNION GARRISON: On Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach, living historians recreate life at Fort Clinch during the War Between the States. Activities may include black powder artillery demonstrations and marching drills, as well as soldiers and civilians taking up duty in the laundry, infirmary and kitchen. Candlelight viewing on Saturday evenings every First Weekend except December.

NORTH FLORIDA ARMS COLLECTOR GUN SHOW: The gun show takes place at the Prime Osborn Convention Center 9 a.m. To 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. To 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8.00 at the door.

NRA BASIC PISTOL SHOOTING COURSE: On Saturday from 9 a.m. To 5 p.m., Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. This course is at least eight hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. COST: $125 per student (Ammunition and range fees extra.) JACKSONVILLE FARMERS MARKET: Open every day of the year, dawn to dusk, save up to 70% or more on NE Florida's largest & fresh selection of local, ethnic, and specialty produce, agricultural and other food products. 92 AT THE ZOO: From June 18 through August 31, 2012, when the temperature is predicted to be higher than 92 degrees, guests can enjoy half-off general admission with a coupon from the Zoo's official website at jacksonvillezoo.org. The discount applies this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

JAX CASH MOB: Join the cash mob in Springfield Saturday August 4th. City Kidz will be the meet-up spot where, at 11 a.m., the cash mob site will be unveiled. Afterwards, post-mob lunch and socializing will be held at City Kidz at 12:30pm. This is the latest installment of the Jax Cash Mob, in support of local businesses. To participate, spend $10 to $20 at the local store they reveal.

THIRD ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE & ADOPTION EVENT: Animal Care and Protective Services will host their third annual adoption event at 2020 Forest Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 4th. There will be a special adoption rate of $20. A dogs/puppies 101 Educational Seminar will take place on site at 11 a.m. It's a free class teaching the basics on crate training, leash walking, leadership, and house-training.

2K12 ALL MADDEN CHALLENGE: The 2K12 All Madden Challenge is a competition in which players compete for the grand cash prize of $2,012. JURASSIC PARK AT MOSH: Watch the Jurassic Park move in the planetarium at MOSH Saturday from 6:30 p.m. To 9 p.m. Jurassic Park is presented in conjunction with MOSH's summer exhibit, A T. rex Named Sue. ALL-DUVAL 24 HOUR FILM FESTIVAL: Watch movies all night for just $10! It's a 24-hour marathon of locally made movies and music videos that starts Saturday August 4, 2012 at 7 p.m. And continues for 24 consecutive hours through Sunday. JACKSONVILLE SUNS: Baseball's never been hotter as the Jacksonville Suns take on Montgomery Saturday at 6:05 p.m.

2ND ANNUAL 5K STADIUM CHALLENGE: Looking for a fun way to support a great cause? EverBank Field, the Jacksonville Jaguars and SMG are working together to host the 2nd Annual 5K Stadium Challenge, a fundraising event with proceeds benefiting the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation and 1st Place Sports Running Club, both organizations devoted to supporting Duval County youth programs. The 5K Stadium Challenge will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 and will take place in the evening under the lights at EverBank Field. 1st Place Sports will manage the event with a unique course both inside and outside the stadium. The run will include all seven levels of EverBank Field and is fit for all ages complete with a Fun Run and walking courses. T-shirts and medals will be available for everyone. It's $40 to participate the day of the race for adults, though kids under 13 and adults 65 and over get a discounted rate of $30. While the 5K Stadium Challenge is going on, there will be fun and activities for all with elements of Teal Town. Plus, live entertainment and food and beverages for purchase.

SUMMER MOVIE CLASSICS: Watch the 1953 black and white movie, "From Here to Eternity" at the Florida Theatre Sunday at 2 p.m. It's $7.50 per ticket.

JAGUARS TRAINING CAMP: The final Jaguars practice that will be open to the public is Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 3 p.m.

THE 700 RIDE: On Sunday at 4 p.m., there's a social bike ride called the 700 ride leaving Kickbacks Gastropub off 910 King Street.

BIKE POLO GAME: Join a game of bike polo at Murray Hill Park across from Ruth N. Upson Elementary School on Kingsbury Street Sunday at 5p.m.

REGGAE ON THE RIVER: Enjoy Reggae music by Chillakaya at the Jacksonville Landing courtyard Sunday from 5 p.m. To 9 p.m. Featuring $2, $3 and $4 drink specials, giveaways and a vendor expo. Reggae on the River takes place the first Sunday of every month.
