STOCKTON -- A woman was injured during an alleged assault by a man hiding inside the ladies room at a Stockton airport bathroom Saturday afternoon.

The 34-year-old woman entered a restroom in the non-secured area of the airport and encountered a man hiding inside.

The suspect, Leonel Fernandez Sousa, allegedly grabbed the woman's arm and the woman began to scream for her husband.

After hearing screams coming from the bathroom the husband, along with another man, entered the women's restroom and got into an altercation with Sousa.

One of the men sustained an injury to his hand when he fell to the ground.

The woman received medical attention for swelling, redness and complaint of pain for her arm.

Moments prior to the incident, a 25-year-old woman reported that she has been sitting on a bench at the airport when the same man approached her. When she attempted to leave Sousa grabbed her dress and lifted it up.

Sousa was taken into police custody and transported to the San Joaquin County Jail, where he was charged with criminal threats, three counts of battery and one count of felony battery.
