ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Nurse practitioners from around the First Coast and from as far away as Tampa met Sunday in St. Johns County to push for the state of Florida to allow them to have more authority.
The Florida Nurse Practitioner Network says Florida is just one of two states in the country that won't allow them to practice to the full extent of their training.
They are not allowed to order X-rays, prescribe physical therapy or prescribe controlled substances. They say their patients are the losers in all this.
