JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Duval County Health Department has issued its second rabies alert for the Northside of Jacksonville.
The health department said the rabies alert is in effect until October 10, 2012.
The area under the alert is bordered on the north by Clapboard Swamp, on the south by Clapboard Creek, on the west by Cedar Point Road at Clapboard Creek and east by Cedar Point Road and Boney Road.
The health department issued the alert after a rabid raccoon was found in the north Jacksonville area.
It has been determined that no humans were exposed to the rabid raccoon.
Pet owners should keep their animals inside and be certain each has received current rabies vaccines as a precaution.
