ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 35-year-old man and charged him with growing marijuana plants in his home.
Detectives with the Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit searched the home at 1131 Ardmore St. after receiving information the suspect was allegedly growing marijuana inside his home, according to a news release from St. Johns Sheriff's Office Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw.
Kelshaw said when detectives served the warrant at 7:30 Wednesday morning they found 133 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, several pre-packaged bags of cannabis and several items of drug paraphernalia. When police tested the substances they tested positive for cannabis.
The suspect, Matthew Lanier, was arrested and charged with possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis with intent to sell, cultivation of cannabis and possession of rug paraphernalia. He was booked into the St. Johns County Jail. Lanier was released after posting $10,500 bond Wednesday afternoon.
