JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two men are in custody after deputies with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office found a body buried in their backyard.

Michael Taylor John, Jr., 21 and Demetrius Kenyon Carter, 18, are in custody after allegedly confessing to strangling their roommate, 52-year-old Kenneth Mark Brown, according to a news conference by JSO.

The body was located in a shallow grave, wrapped in tarps and plastic, but is badly decomposed. Authorities have confirmed with the Medical Examiner that the body is Brown's.

Brown was reported missing by his family on July 11 after missing several dialysis appointments. JSO launched an investigation into Brown's disappearance on July 12.

According to the news conference, John and Carter claim the incident occurred on July 6 and allege robbery as their motivation.
