JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is assisting in a missing persons investigation in the 300 block of Lamson Street.

Multiple crime scene units are in the neighborhood and looking in the backyard of a house on the block.

Neighbors report JSO has been on the scene since early Tuesday afternoon.

Our news partner The Florida Times-Union is reporting a body has been found in a shallow grave behind a home Tuesday night.  JSO would not confirm reports of a body found in the backyard to First Coast News.

According to The T-U, Homicide Lieutenant Rob Schoonover said a detective following up on a missing persons case became suspicious of a resident's story and searched the premise.

The detective asked for a K-9 unit to respond after finding a spot of freshly turned soil, The T-U said.

Police confirmed to our news partner the house was occupied by three men, each renting a room, and that two of those men are now in custody as suspects.
