INTERLACHEN, Fla. -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrested Gary Bennett on Friday in connection with the death of Maureen Haugdahl.

The 52-year-old was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside a home on Arnold Street back in May. A few days later, her death was ruled to be a homicide.

She was found by deputies during a welfare check when her family didn't hear from her.

Bennett is charged with first degree murder, armed burglary, robbery and grand theft, according to a release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

A gun was found near a body of water near Haugdahl's home on May 12. On June 20, a search warrant was executed on Bennett's home, during which Bennett was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Forensic evidence linked Bennett to the killing, though the details of that evidence is not being released to keep the State Attorney's case from being jeopardized, according to the news release.
