JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Here is a list of events going on in our area this weekend.

SATURDAY

MEGA PET ADOPTION EVENT: Over 600 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies looking for forever homes! Adoption fee for all pets is $25 and includes: Spay/Neuter, Vaccines, Microchip and City License. In honor of those that serve and retired military will be given totally FREE adoptions! The indoor event will be held at the Jacksonville Fair Grounds Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

BIKE MS: KICK-OFF RIDE: The Bike MS Kick-off Ride is a chance for everyone to get the Bike MS season started off right. Come out and enjoy the company of fellow cyclists. Are you looking for a group to train with? This is the perfect opportunity to meet that group. Snacks and water will be provided. There will be fully stocked rest stops along the route, as well as SERF escorts and police for cyclists safety. (must be 12 years old or older to participate). It's Saturday at 7 a.m. At the PGA Tour Headquarters. There is a 25 mile and 45 mile option. $5 day of registration.

MONTOYA BFAST TRIATHLON: The Beaches Fine Arts Series, home of BFAS Racing, is proud to present the 2012 Montoya BFAST Tri Race #3 on Saturday, July 14, 2012, beginning at 7AM, at Mickler's Landing, Ponte Vedra Beach. This USAT Sanctioned race is a Swim, Bike, & Run Sprint Triathlon for participants 12 and older as of 12/31/2012. Enjoy awards provided by the official host bike shop of BFAS Racing, Trek Bicycle Store, and delicious food provided by our official Finish-Line food sponsor, Native Sun.

THE GARNIER GREENER TOUR: Throughout Saturday from 10 a.m. Until 6 p.m., the Garnier Greener tour will be making stops at multiple Walmart stores in the Jacksonville area, offering beauty-lovers exciting ways to help protect the environment. Shoppers can drop off empty hair care, skin care or cosmetic packaging to be recycled, receive free Garnier samples, try out new products and enter to win the Garnier Greener Giveaway. Those who bring at least one piece of beauty packaging waste to be recycled will be eligible for a mini-style at the on-site Garnier styling station.

SPORTS CARD AND COLLECTIBLES SHOW: Sports Card and Collectibles Show at the Quality Inn 6802 Commonwealth Avenue (Exit 22 off I295) Saturday July 14th, 2012 Show Hours: 9:00am-4:00pm. Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Racing cards. Autographed Memorabilia, Vintage cards from 1900's to 1970's and much more!

JACKSONVILLE FARMERS MARKET: Open every day of the year, dawn to dusk, save up to 70+% or more on NE Florida's largest & fresh selection of local, ethnic, and specialty produce, agricultural and other food products. It's free to attend. The farmer's market runs this Saturday from 7 a.m. Through 7 p.m.

RIVERSIDE ARTS MARKET: The Riverside Arts Market is every Saturday from 10 a.m. To 4 p.m. off Riverside Avenue underneath the Fuller Warren Bridge. It features crafts, art, live entertainment and more!

JACKSONVILLE ZOO AND GARDENS: Learn how to Save the Rhinos at the third annual event. There will be information booths, animal encounters, animal enrichment, and prize drawings. In addition, it's 92 at the zoo! From June 18 through August 31, 2012, when the temperature is predicted to be higher than 92 degrees, guests can enjoy half-off general admission with a coupon from the Zoo's official website at jacksonvillezoo.org. The discount applies this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SECOND ANNUAL ISLAND SUMMER CAMP AT THE GREYFIELD INN: The Greyfield Inn is offering families a unique opportunity to vacation together for the second year in a row. 2012 H.E.R.I. CURRICULUM CONVENTION: The homeschool convention is at the Prime Osborn Convention Center Saturday from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission fees cover your entry into the convention, your spouse, your minor children, 1 set of grandparents, and parking in the Prime Osborn parking lot. It's $30 for non members.

SECOND SATURDAY PROGRAM: BUGS! Learn about bugs, insects and more at Tree Hill Nature Center Saturday from 1 p.m. To 1:45 p.m. They'll show you how important these little creepy crawlies are for the environment. And, we'll show you which can be harmful to humans. You'll even get to spend some time in the lab looking at them under a microscope. Reserve your space by registering online. RIVERSIDE GIVES BACK BENEFIT SPA DAY: Blu in 5 Points is holding a benefit spa day to help the A21 campaign to help stop human trafficking. Blu salon will be donating a portion of the proceeds that day to help the cause we will also have a BBQ and raffles all day long!! So come out and treat yourself to a new do or maybe a mani, pedi or some waxing and help a great cause!

RETHREADED OPEN HOUSE & SALE: Rethreaded is a new, local non-profit organization, working to aid those affected by the sex trade industry on both a local and global level. In addition to the open house and sale from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, there will also be a bike ride - "Breaking the Cycle of the Sex Trade" - leaving the Riverside area at 5 p.m. To benefit the cause. SECOND SATURDAY TRUCK & JEEP RALLY: Local 4x4 and Monster Truck and Jeep enthusiasts are invited to gather and enjoy Monster trucks on display with, 4x4's, jeeps, live music by "Wire & Wood Bluegrass Band" a beer garden, food and plenty of seating! AFRICA NIGHT GALA 2012: An evening filled with extraordinary culinary delights, dancing, a silent auction, and door prizes. Jacksonville Sister Cities Association proudly presents the event, which supports the activities of the Nelson Mandela Bay Committee (JSCA) with Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality in South Africa. The gala is Saturday from 6 p.m. To 10 p.m. At the Wingate By Wyndham Southpointe.

ALL AMERICAN HOEDOWN AND AUCTION: St. Michael's Soldiers is hosting it's 2nd annual All American Hoedown and Auction Saturday at 7 p.m. At St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Loretto Road. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Army Lieutenant Ryan Timoney, who suffered injuries earlier this in Afghanistan after a suicide bomber attack. He is currently recovering in Tampa.

JACKSONVILLE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT AWARD SHOW: Come out and see who wins the award for "Best 48 Hour Film Jacksonville 2011" and goes on to compete nationally against all the other competition cities in the United States and possibly be selected to have their film shown at the Cannes Film Festival. A Jacksonville team had their film shown there this year. The awards show is Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Florida Theatre Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10.

JACKSONVILLE SHARKS GAME: The Sharks take on the Orlando Predators at the Veterans Memorial Arena Saturday at 7 p.m.

CHILDREN'S WAY 5K AFTER DARK: Get ready to hit the pavement for a 5K run to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville! This evening run winds through historic San Marco and ends with a post race celebration at Hurricane Grill & Wings, featuring awards, door prizes, free food, beverages and entertainment. Runners will get a FREE Sport Tech running shirt. Runners may register for the 5K online or by calling 904-807-4663. There is a $30 registration fee. The race is Saturday starting at 7 p.m. At Hurricanes.

 

LIVE MUSIC AT THE JACKSONVILLE LANDING: Sugar Bear performs live in the Jacksonville landing courtyard starting at 8 p.m. Saturday through 11:50 p.m.

SUNDAY

BEACH BLVD MOTORSPORTS CUSTOMER APPRECIATION RIDE TO CONCH HOUSE: Join BBMS at 10 a.m. Sunday for coffee and doughnuts, kickstands up at 10:30. The first 100 bikes get a FREE $10 gift card to the store. Get there at 10 a.m. to ride and have fun. Conch house has good food and Lots of Music and fun for all.

SUMMER MOVIE CLASSICS: "gentlemen Prefer Blondes": View the 1953 color film "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" starring Marilyn Monroe at the Florida Theatre Sunday at 2 p.m. It's $7.50 per ticket.

FC JAX DESTROYERS DOUBLE HEADER: Women vs. Central SC Cobras. Come support the men and women FC Jax Destroyers at their last games of the season! The women will play the Central SC Cobras at 4:30pm, and the men will follow at 7:00pm vs. Orlando City. This game will be featuring and supporting the Children's Miracle Network. It's Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Jacksonville University.
