ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. -- They spent days in the dark. But shortly after a story about the problem aired on First Coast News, dozens of apartments got their power restored.

"Just to keep you updated...the power has been restored this morning. I'm absolutely certain it was expedited due to your coverage. You guys are great!" wrote the viewer who tipped us off about the story.

The power for many apartments at Atlantic Arms went out Tuesday night.

"We called the manager and they said it wasn't something they could handle at the moment. And they basically kept pushing it off, pushing it off," said Stephen Maso on Wednesday.

So they eventually called First Coast News. When we showed up, a manager for Avesta Homes said his crews are having a hard time finding an electrician to fix the problem. A letter sent to residents says electricians and equipment are tied up in Maryland and West Virginia. A manager said his boss told him not to talk to First Coast News on camera.
