JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a fatal crash that shut down Beaver Street on the Westside early Thursday morning.
The single-vehicle accident happened before 3:30 a.m. on Beaver Street at Celery Avenue, which is just east of Chaffee Road.
According to investigators, a vehicle slammed into a power pole.
One person was killed in the crash, and another was taken to Shands.
Both east and westbound lanes of Beaver Street were closed for nearly three hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
Beaver Street reopened just before 6:30 a.m.
