JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  The city has a decision to make with two companies -- SMG and Global Spectrum -- wanting the multimillion dollar contract to manage the city's major entertainment venues.

Global Spectrum is competing against SMG, which has held the contract for the venues for twenty years, as well as the city's NFL stadium. The Jaguars have gone on record saying they want SMG to manage EverBank Field.

"We love the complex here. We just really believe been that it's been under served and it's time for a change," said Todd Glickman, who heads up development for Global Spectrum.

The city received two proposals last month to manage EverBank Field and several downtown entertainment venues that include the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

SMG, through spokesman Michael Munz, issued a statement on the process that's underway.

"We believe that the proposals should be evaluated on the merits of the response and not as a result of a PR campaign. SMG has submitted a very competitive bid."

The proposals become public record on June 15.  A change in state law calls for a 30-day wait from time submitted until they become public.

The city has not set a date time when the two proposals will be scored by staff according to a predetermined matrix.
