ST. JOHNS, Fla. -- Two teens are seriously injured after a school bus collided with their vehicle.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a school bus driven by Robert J. Irons, 62, was traveling westbound on Cunningham Estates Road when he stopped at the intersection of State Road 13.
A 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Jeremy K. Fairbanks, 17, who was accompanied by Steven A. Fairbanks, 15, was traveling northbound on State Road 13.
The school bus began to make a left turn on State Road 13, and Fairbanks applied the vehicle's brakes and skidded, causing the front of his vehicle to collide with the left side of the school bus. The left rear tires of the school bus rolled over the hood of the vehicle.
Irons was cited with violation of right of way. Both teens were wearing their seatbelts and were transported to Shands Jacksonville to be treated for their injuries.
