PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Former Jaguars head coach and current New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin is back on the First Coast this weekend to host the 17th Annual Jay Fund Celebrity Golf Classic.
Several Giants players are joining their head coach for Monday's golf tournament at TPC Sawgrass including Eli Manning and Hakeem Nicks. Current Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey and South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier were among the celebrities who attended Sunday night's dinner and auction.
Coach Coughlin started the Jay Fund in 1996 in honor of the late Jay McGillis, one of his former players at Boston College. Although McGillis lost his fight with Leukemia, his spirit lives on in the form of the Jay Fund which assists families with children who have cancer by providing emotional and financial support to help reduce the stress associated with treatment and to improve their quality of life.
The Jay Fund assists families on the First Coast and in the New York and New Jersey area.
