JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police have ruled a one-year-old's death an accident.
The child was found unresponsive, upside down in a car seat at a home on the 1300 block of Yellow Water Road.
The Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responded to the home around 5:40p.m. Monday night.
According to Sergeant Coarsey with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the child's mother claims she left Michael Booth, 1-year-old, in the home with a 14-year-old and another two to three-year-old child to run down the street to do some laundry.
When the mother returned home, she found the child strapped into a car seat on the floor of the home, according to a news release from Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.
The car seat was flipped over and Booth's legs were over his head, causing possible positional asphyxiation, Bujeda said.
At this time, it is believed the two-year-old strapped the other child into the car seat.
Booth was taken to Shands and pronounced deceased of causes unknown at this point.
Bujeda said the sheriff's office has ruled the death accidental and that no foul play is suspected at this time.
