A fatal single-vehicle crash on Collins Road.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has released the names of two men killed Monday morning in a single-car crash on Collins Road involving a stolen car.
Twenty-year-old Dominique McNish has been identified as the driver of a stolen vehicle involved in a fatal crash Monday, according to a news release from Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Shannon Hartley.
Hartley said the vehicle was reported stolen around 3 am. Sunday.
Monday morning the owner saw the vehicle in the area of Blanding Boulevard and Collins Road. The stolen car was being driven by McNish and 19-year-old Nathaniel Hoover, Hartley said.
McNish and Hoover also saw the owner of the vehicle. When the two saw the owner, the fled at a high rate of speed, heading east on Collins Road.
As McNish and Hoover were fleeing the vehicle's owner, McNish lost control of the vehicle, striking a telephone pole.
McNish was pronounced dead at the scene. Hoover was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Hartley said the case is still an ongoing investigation.
