JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- What police describe as a drug deal gone bad has ended with two brothers and a teenager charged with murder and the victim found in the Trout River.
The body of Jeffrey Michael May, 28, was recovered Sunday morning by Jacksonville Sheriff's Office divers in the Trout River off of North Main Street.
Lt. Rob Schoonoer says May was shot in a home on Winton Drive after he went there to buy drugs. David Marrero, 36, accompanied May into the home.
Once inside, police say May was robbed and shot. Marrero was able to escape from the home.
Terrell Reed, 22, and his brother Tevin Reed, 19, were arrested and charged with murder. Also charged with murder was Rashard Irvin Philmore, 18.
Police say Terrell Reed claims to have acted in self defense.
When police canvassed the home on Winton Drive they found the murder victim's car and blood in the home, but no body.
Schoonoer says Terrell Reed later led officers to the Trout River where May's body was recovered attached to a cinder block.
