JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 31-year-old man taken to Orange Park Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after a shooting at the Baymeadows Arby's has been identified.
Jack Alan Henry was shot in the stomach Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Arby's restaurant on Baymeadows Road, according to an information report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses told police they saw the victim talking to a man in a sandy colored Chevrolet Malibu or Cobalt. They told police they then heard a loud "pop" and saw the victim double over, holding his stomach.
One witness told police that Henry told her, "They shot me in the stomach, I hope I don't die."
A witness sitting at the traffic light on Baymeadows Road said he thought he saw a drug deal happen between the victim and the man in the car just before the shooting.
The witness told police he saw the victim run towards the JEA box in the parking lot before police or paramedics arrived.
When police searched the area near the JEA box, they found small baggies with what appeared to be cocaine and heroin inside along with a syringe and wires, according to the report.
According to Henry's records, he has been arrested in Duval and St. Johns counties. Charges he faced in Duval included domestic battery, darkened window tint and possession of cannabis.
Police are still searching the for suspect.
