JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A child has died after a woman was driving away from her Arlington home Sunday afternoon and ran the 20-month-old over.
The driver of the vehicle said she was backing down her driveway when she hit a bump and thought she had ran something over, according to a press release from Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.
That bump turned out to be her 20-month old granddaughter, Zayonna Moss. Moss got out of the home when someone left a door open.
Detective J.C. Hurst with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the baby was rushed to Shands with life threatening injuries, after the tire completely ran her over. She was later pronounced deceased.
After police finish their investigation, Hurst said the state attorney's office will decide if they will press charges against the grandmother.
