ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A fire set to a shelf inside the Walmart on Blanding Blvd closed the store for about a half hour Thursday night, and now deputies are trying to figure out who started it.
That's according to Lt. Mahla with the Clay County Sheriff's Office, who said his detectives are reviewing surveillance video to see if they can catch the culprit in the act.
At about 9:45 p.m. someone reported the fire, which Mahla described as pretty small. A shopper put it out with a nearby fire extinguisher, Mahla said.
Clay County Battalion Chief Ronald Hildum said the building filled with a light smoke and his firefighters evacuated everyone inside as a precaution.
CCSO detectives will work with the state fire marshal's office on the investigation.
The store has since reopened.
