LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A mother is in jail after officers said she left her children, who are one and three years old, home alone.
According to a news release from Sgt. Steve Shaw with Lake City Police Department, Tierra Shanta Carr-Richardson left the children home by themselves and asked neighbors to check in on them while she was at work.
The kids were home alone from 7-10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, and the Department of Children and Families has since taken them into custody.
Carr-Richardson now faces two counts of child neglect, Shaw said. The Columbia County Clerk of Courts site shows that the mother doesn't have a court date set yet.
