ROCK SPRINGS, Ga. -- The Georgia State Patrol confirmed Tuesday morning that two inmates escaped from the Walker State Prison in Walker County.
The escapees, identified as Buell David Emberson and Fred Brooks, escaped from the prison at about 9:15 p.m. Monday, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
The inmates "fashioned a device that allowed them to breach the fence at the medium security facility," a spokesperson for the Department of Corrections said.
Emberson is 42 years old, 5-feet-11-inches tall and 175 pounds. He was convicted of several charges, including aggravated assault and eluding police.
Brooks is 63 years old, 5-feet-9-inches tall and 170 pounds. He was in prison for robbery and burglary.

The prison is located in Rock Springs, Ga., about 14 miles south of Chattanooga.
