JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville mother of eight is recovering from injuries she suffered in a hit-and-run, while the Florida Highway Patrol looks for a suspect.
"I hit the brakes, and went flipping and flipping," said Darlene Taylor, who flipped at least three times.
She has a burnt arm carefully wrapped and her head is bandaged after it was split open. "When I landed, I was in the passenger seat."
The mother of eight was on Interstate 10 last Wednesday around 6 p.m. when a truck hit her. The driver who hit her never stopped.
"I thank God. I thank God I'm still here for my kids and my family." said Taylor.
FHP said witnesses saw a newer model Ford Expedition hit Taylor's vehicle. The Expedition will have right-rear side damage, said FHP Lt. Bill Leeper.
Taylor is hoping that driver will see her and turn themselves in. "To not stop and see you hurt someone and not give any help....I thank God I'm still here, but they didn't care."
