JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The 3rd annual HighSchoolSports.net Slam Dunk Contest is underway. University Christian School junior Marquis Haynes recently showed off his skills for the First Coast News cameras.
Haynes is a 6'4" junior for the Christians. He also excels on the football field and will be one of the top recruits in the area for the Class of 2013.
In the next couple of weeks, First Coast News will continue to showcase the best dunkers in the area. Online voting will begin for this contest next week.
If you know of someone who should be included in this contest, please send an e-mail to email@example.com. You may also submit your own video if you'd like. Just send that video to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is the third year that we have held this contest. In 2009, former Mandarin High School star Charles McRoy received the most votes. He is now playing basketball at UNF.
Also that year, current Florida Gator Patric Young competed as did Aaron Bowen who currently plays at Georgetown and Stacey Poole Jr. who recently transferred from Kentucky to Georgia Tech.
