JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Fire and Rescue along with the Florida Highway Patrol are still on the scene of a large truck fire that shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 295 for more than two hours.

The scene is just south of Commonwealth Avenue. Tom Francis with JFRD said a truck carrying multiple vehicles caught fire on the interstate.

The fire has been put out by JFRD but emergency crews still have one southbound lane blocked to deal with the cleanup.

The driver of the truck carrier made it out okay and is still on the scene talking with investigators.

Southbound traffic is at a standstill on I-295 and northbound drivers are seeing major backup as well, though cars are finally starting to move after two hours.

Drivers will need to take I-95, Lane Avenue or Edgewood Avenue to avoid the scene.
