Alexander Chester Patton faces a murder charge
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The man police had considered a person of interest for a Northside murder Monday told police he lost control and killed a woman during an argument.
Paula Milam was found dead in her home on Galway Avenue Monday.
Tuesday, 39-year-old Alexander Chester Patton was arrested on a DUI charge, and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said he may be connected to Milam's death.
Patton was involved in a crash on Interstate 95, and was hospitalized, according to Lt. Rob Schoonover, because he had been using medication taken from Milam's house. While hospitalized, Patton was absentee booked on the DUI charge.
Police learned that he lived at Milam's home, and had been arguing with her over how much money he owed her.
Schoonover said Patton confessed that he lost control during the argument and fatally strangled Milam.
Patton is charged with murder and possession of drugs without a prescription.
