CALLAHAN, Fla. -- Upon graduating from West Nassau High School in 2001, Howie Kendrick chose to play baseball at St. Johns River Community College. While he was there, a scout from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim took notice of him which led to a selection in the 10th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
On Tuesday, Kendrick played in the MLB All-Star Game for the first time in his career. He grounded out in his only at bat as the National League defeated the American League 5-1.
Kendrick has come a long way in his baseball career and folks in his hometown are very proud of him. Watch the video clip attached to this story to see Chris Porter's report from Callahan.
