JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The 12-year-old charged with first degree murder entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday morning.
Cristian Fernandez's court appearance lasted about five minutes. Two police officers led him into the courtroom and he stood next to his public defender.
Fernandez waived his right to a speedy trial.
Prosecutors asked Judge Senterfitt to issue a gag order on the case. She agreed and ordered that no sides talk about the case with anyone, except people who they need to talk to in preparation with the case.
Fernandez is accused of killing his 2-year-old brother on March 14.
His next court appearance is July 21.
