CRESCENT BEACH, Fla. -- A man injured when his motorcycle collided with a deer near Crescent Beach remains in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville.

Philip M. Cooley, 49, of St. Augustine was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following the accident, which Florida Highway Patrol reports indicate happened at 10:40 p. m. Tuesday.

Troopers said Cooley was riding east on State Road 205 near E. Seacove Ave. when a deer ran out in front of him.  They said Cooley was wearing his helmet.
