JACKSONVILLE, FL -- As the world gets read to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Peace a family on the First Coast creates a peace dove.

It wasn't a real dove, but one made from bed sheets, chicken wire and other things from around the house.

Sarah Cooks-Slaire says she got the idea from a website called Roots and Shoots, which is a program set up by Dr. Jane Goodall.

She says the project brought she and her friends together for a great afternoon filled with love. "It's just about spreading the word of peace and how we can act everyday in our own individual lives, whether it's with animals or other people or helping the environment"

Cooks-Slaire says about 30 families came out to help get the dove off the ground.

The United Nations International Day of Peace is Monday, September 21st.
