PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- A 10-year-old has died at the hospital Monday afternoon after nearly drowning in the pool at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
When emergency responders arrived on scene at the hotal on 45 PGA Tour Boulevard, CPR was being administered to Raven Malden, and it was continuously administered until Fire Rescue arrived with more advanced life-saving equipment.
Malden of Pensacola, Fla. was transported to Beaches Baptist hospital and was then transferred to Wolfsons Hospital by air ambulance in critical condition.
According to the report, the little girl went with three other juvenile family members to swim in the pool. However she began struggling when two of her family members tried to help her and the third ran to an employee for help.
It appears no adults were with the children when they went swimming, additionally the pool was closed to swimming prior to this incident.
An autopsy will be completed by the medical examiner and the investigation is ongoing.
