Stock futures diverge after prior-session highs

LONDON -- U.S. stock futures were diverging in early market action Monday.

TheDow Jones Industrial Average index was trading up around 0.1% at13,355, Standard & Poor's 500 index futures were off 0.1% at 1,456and Nasdaq-100 futures were trading down 0.01% at 2,712.

Lastweek, the S&P 500 stock index closed out the trading week at1,466.47, its highest finish since December 2007. The Dow and the Nasdaqalso saw gains, albeit more modest ones, as markets stepped higher inthe wake of a last-minute deal in Washington to avert the so-calledfiscal cliff.

For the week, the S&P gained 4.6%, the Dow rose 3.8% and the Nasdaq composite advanced 4.6%.

Stocksslipped in European trading on Monday and benchmarks in Asia also wereon their way down following a strong start to the 2013 trading year.
