JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One of the longtime stores at The Jacksonville Landing has closed its doors.
Body Central, also known as the Body Shop, was one of the original tenants when the Landing opened 25 years ago. However, Michael Chambliss, the Landing's Director of Marketing, says the store leaving didn't have anything to do with its sales locally.
"Body Shop is a publicly traded company, so they've made a number of changes within the company," Chambliss explains. "So they've made some bottom line decisions and closed several stores. Unfortunately, the one here at the Landing was one of them."
Chambliss said another reason for the store leaving could be the size of the space. He says the current space is about 3,300 square feet, and all of the chain's new stores exceed 4,000.
He said the Landing is currently at 80% capacity and says he already has potential tenants eying the Body Shop's location.
The other remaining original tenants are Hooters, An Apple a Day, Coastal Cookies and the Toy Factory.
