NEW YORK (AP) - Anticipating the holiday Thursday and a shortened session on Friday, Wall Street is off to a good start for week.

U.S. stocks on Monday shook off the recent post-election slump, chalking up big gains. The Dow Jones industrial average soared 208 points, or 1.7 percent, to 12,796. The Standard & Poor's 500 was up 27 points to 1,387. And the Nasdaq composite added 63 points to 2,916.

Coming into Monday's session, the Dow had lost 5 percent since Election Day.
