Jacksonville’s Hart Bridge will be shut down from 7 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday, then again from 7 p.m. the following Friday until 6 a.m. that Sunday for a continuing overhaul project, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The $4.3 million project’s list of improvements to the 3,844-foot-long Hart Bridge includes replacement of wire rope, coating of structural steel, drainage work and steel plate rehabilitation.

Traffic heading west on the Hart Expressway will be detoured to Atlantic Boulevard with signs directing motorists to a detour at the Acosta Bridge, then Broad Street. Motorists trying to take the Hart Bridge eastbound will be detoured to Jefferson Street, then Acosta Bridge and Atlantic Boulevard.

Construction is expected to be completed in early 2018, weather and schedule permitting.
