JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Jacksonville Armada soccer team will play their home game at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in 2017, the team announced Monday.

The Armada had played their first two North American Soccer League seasons at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, but costs topping $70,000 per game to convert the field from baseball to soccer were part of why the team was losing money. Owner Mark Frisch announced he will sell the team to the league while a deal is reached with new ownership.

"Hodges Stadium is a fabulous soccer facility and will provide Armada FC fans an excellent game day experience,” said Armada FC Senior Vice President of Operations Marshall Happer in a statement.

“It has hosted many top events in its history and our team looks forward to hosting its fans at the new home venue. The stadium's close location to our fan base will be an added bonus for the club."

Hodges Stadium seats 9,400 and currently hosts the UNF soccer and track teams.

The team will play 16 regular season games there in 2017.
