Jaguars unveil new uniforms during 'State of the Franchise' presentation

The Jacksonville franchise has switched its uniform for the third time since 2009.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jaguars revealed their brand new look Thursday during the team's "State of the Franchise" presentation at EverBank Field.

The team unveiled three jersey color options (white, black and teal), three pant color options (white, black and teal) and two sock color options (standard and color rush teal).

Jaguars Owner Shad Khan and Executive VP of Football Operations Tom Coughlin oversaw the process during Nike's creation of the new uniforms. The new look focuses on the team's primary colors, introducing more teal to the reworked attire.

“True to our current identity and what we want to represent for years to come, our new uniforms are no-nonsense, all business and unmistakably Jaguars,” Khan said in a team-issued statement. “Tradition has returned to Jacksonville.”

The Jaguars' new helmet features a high-gloss black paint, ending the reign of the polarizing two-toned look of the past. The helmets are also designed to honor the team's home city with "JAX" on the front 3-D bumper.

“I wanted to see the return of tradition," Coughlin said in the team-issued statement.

"I wanted to see the distinctiveness. I wanted the shiny black helmet with a beautiful Jaguars logo. I wanted to be represented that way. Just exactly how I've explained it: the classic Jaguar uniform. To a player, the uniform means everything. Because when you put that uniform on you not only represent your franchise, your team, your community; you represent your family. You represent your parents, your wife, your children, everything packed into one because your name is on the back of that uniform.”

As with Coughlin's return last offseason, the new uniforms acknowledge the franchise's history. The traditional look is meant to link the Pro Bowl players of the past to the superstars of the present.

“We have three players that should be in the Hall of Fame," Coughlin said.

"Tony Boselli should be in the Hall of Fame, Fred Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame and Jimmy Smith should be in the Hall of Fame. The thing that's important for me in thinking about this uniform is the connect. The players of the 2018 Jacksonville Jaguars will wear a uniform, that when they see those three people inducted into the Hall of Fame, they can relate directly to that. That's the distinctive, traditional, classic, uniform of the Jacksonville Jaguars.”

The new jerseys will be available for purchase at the team's "Uniform Launch and Drafty Party" on Thursday, April 26 at Daily’s Place. Fans can register to attend the free event on Jaguars.com.
