Jaguars safety Calvin Pryor was traded to the Cleveland Browns in June. From there, his career went into a temporary downward spiral.
The former New York Jets first-round pick was waived by the Browns in September after making the team's initial 53-man roster. He was cut following an altercation with a teammate.
The Jaguars claimed him off waivers. A little over a week later, Pryor was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
Now eligible to return from injured reserve, Pryor is looking forward to playing the Browns.
"This has been awesome to be back in the swing of things," Pryor said Wednesday.
"To be with teammates, a winning environment. [The Jaguars] have everything going right for us at the right time, playing good football - especially on the defensive side of the ball - so we just have to keep it up. I just want to add to it."
Cleveland is currently 0-9 on the season. Pryor isn't shocked by their futility this year.
"Not [surprised] at all," Pryor said, regarding the Browns' recent woes.
He felt like he never fit into their plans.
"Honestly, I felt like they didn't give me an opportunity from the moment I got there," Pryor said. "But, you know, it is what it is. I'm happy to be a Jaguar, to come back home and be close to family and friends, some good teammates here, so I think it was for the best."
Browns head coach Hue Jackson declined to get into the ordeal during a conference call interview with Jacksonville reporters.
"I don't think it matters [for] you to go back into all of that," Jackson said. "Calvin is there and doing well and we've moved on."
After spending only a few months in Cleveland, Pryor said he didn't consider the Browns to be a former team. However, he is very focused on getting a win with his current squad.
"It's going to be feel good, but honestly, my time there wasn't long, so I really don't consider them a team I really had history with," Pryor said.
"I feel like I was just a guy who went through training camp and preseason and got cut. It's going to be a bittersweet feeling because I've been up there before to play them and I've won, I've come out victorious every time. I feel like it's just another step in the way."
Pryor was activated off injured reserve Saturday. He has been participating in practice over the last two weeks.
He feels like he is almost 100 percent recovered from his September ankle injury.
"I feel like [I'm] 98 percent," Pryor said. "But it's close enough."
