Jaguars CB A.J. Bouye named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after producing huge play in OT win

Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye is receiving some off-the-field love for his performance against the Chargers in Week 10.

Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye isn't just picking up big wins on the field this season.

On Wednesday, the veteran cornerback received an off-the-field honor as he was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday.

Bouye came up with a crucial interception in overtime that led to a game-winning field goal by Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo.

The interception may have been the Jaguars' biggest play of the year to this point.

The Jaguars won the game, 20-17. It was the Jaguars' sixth victory of the season.

Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone was quick to praise Bouye's performance during his pre-practice press conference.

"He's been really playing well for us all year," Marrone said. "Obviously, he came up with the big play but he had tackles and did other things in that game to help us win it."

Bouye posted four tackles and the interception against the Chargers. On the season, Bouye has produced 30 tackles, 11 pass breakups and three interceptions.

Bouye is the third Jaguar to be named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Defensive end Calais Campbell got the nod for Week 1 while linebacker Telvin Smith was given the honor for Week 5.
