Woman searches for 3 lost dogs in Oak Leaf

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One Orange Park mother says she's lost three family members and is she's now consumed by the desperate search to get them back.

The woman believes a DIRECTV tech's carelessness lead to their loss.

"Ruby is like my best friend," said Angelica Opalec.

She turns 10 tomorrow and has only one wish.

"For my birthday tomorrow my dogs come home," said Opalec.

You'll find photo's of Jasper, Ruby and Scarlett posted on multiple media sites and throughout the Oakleaf neighborhood.

The trio went missing on May 28 when Zamora Rojo says a DIRECTV tech arrived at her home earlier than scheduled. She wasn't home but her mother-in-law was, and let him in.

"He left the door open when he went to his truck to get some equipment," said Rojo. "The dogs took the opportunity to run out."

She says it was clearly an accident but a costly mistake that now has her family on edge.

Her biggest fear?

"That somebody is going to take my dogs and put them in some kind of dog fighting ring as bait dogs or just mistreat them," said Rojo.

She's searched the area and shared photos of her Siberian Huskies on Facebook. Neighbors, strangers and pet groups both near and far jumped in to help.

"Within the first night we already had 15 hundred shares," said Rojo. "It's nice living in a community where everybody wants to help you. But then in the back of my mind it could be someone in my community that took the dogs."

Rojo says she felt as if DIRECTV was brushing her off when she called about the situation. After FCN contacted their corporate offices Friday Rojo says she got a call from Mastec, their local contractor late this evening. They now plan to meet with the family on Monday in the hopes of helping to resolve this issue.

Rojo says the only resolution is to find her huskies.
