UNDATED -- Cartoon crossover "Enchanted" hits the silver screen this weekend.
"Enchanted" is not a new premise, but it puts a great twist on time travel.
Amy Adams plays a cartoon princess who is suddenly thrust into present day Times Square after her evil mother-in-law to be pushes her down a well.
She's soon followed by the prince and her intended groom James Marsden, best known as the TV host in "Hairspray".
How they find each other in the Big Apple is the crux of this story.
"Grey's Anatomy" costar Patrick Dempsey is the conveniently single father engaged to another woman, who of course will soon fall for this newcomer.
The premise is well done, and late in the movie Susan Sarandon emerges as the evil queen who wants to separate the young lovers and keep her throne in the cartoon kingdom.
"Enchanted" is a continual witty delight.
It lends new meaning to the word "charming."
New York as a backdrop, especially in the wonderful musical numbers, never looked better.
It's a great way to spend part of this holiday weekend.
