The government shutdown does not affect all outdoor activities.
According to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission press release, the FWC-managed lands will remain open. FWC officers will also remain on duty throughout the state.
Along with the federal parks and wildlife refuges, the shutdown may close hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing on federal refuges, preserves and parks. Boat ramps, visitor centers and gates on all access points may also be closed, the release said.
The release says to view the federal parks website for further information and the FWC's Wildlife Hotline Alert is always available by contacting 888-404-3922 (FWCC).
