Celebrity year in review: Top trashiest moments

Risque get-ups, nightclub brawls, TMI on Twitter, tawdry lawsuits. ... Ah, 2012. It was a year filled with bad behavior, even from some of our most beloved stars.

Let's take a walk down memory lane to look at our top trashy celebrity moments:

Rihanna got back together with Chris Brown, much to the dismay of many of her fans. But she had to share him with model Karrueche Tran. The love triangle played out on Twitter and culminated in a Christmas Day display of affection between Ri-Ri and Brown at a Lakers game. But that wasn't the only thing Rihanna shared on Twitter. She constantly posted photos of herself - some topless, some bottomless, and many that showed her smoking pot. And the trashy behavior that ticked off journalists the most? After inviting many aboard a tour plane to follow her around, she was rude to them, leaving them waiting, hungry and with no quotes. Why so desperate, Rihanna?

Chris Brown spent a lot of time on Twitter this year, sharing his love triangle with followers, saying he was torn between Rihanna and Karrueche Tran. He then got into a nasty Twitter exchange that was described as profane, misogynistic and vulgar, with comedian Jenny Johnson, who wrote a snide remark about him being back together with Rihanna. He deleted his account, but soon returned to share provocative pictures of himself and Rihanna. Make up your mind, Chris. And then keep it to yourself.

Demi Moore started the year by being rushed to the hospital after suffering "what seemed like seizures," reported People, the result of doing whippits (inhaling nitrous oxide) at a party. She checked in to Cirque Lodge rehab treatment center and stepped out of the spotlight for months. In November, she surfaced and was said to have fallen for art dealer Vito Schnabel, 24 years her junior. But the relationship didn't last long, and Demi surfaced on the social scene in Miami, partying with pals Lenny Kravitz and Stacy Keibler, a can of Red Bull in her hand. We hope you find what you're looking for in 2013, Demi.

Gabriel Aubry's bloody, battered face in a mug shot taken after his Thanksgiving day fight with Olivier Martinez will not soon be forgotton. The model and father of Halle Berry's daughter, Nahla, spent a lot of time battling in court -- and out - over the little girl. Let's hope the three have worked out their differences for 2013.

No trash list could be complete without mentioning little Honey Boo Boo - real name: Alana Thompson - who captured the hearts of many TLC viewers as she showed us what her "crazy redneck" life is like in McIntyre, Ga. But while she got ratings, was she getting them for the right reason? Critics blasted the show for being mocking and exploitative. What's the old saying? One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian Odom and mom Kris Jenner all had wardrobe malfunctions in 2012. Isn't that a little much, even for them? Kim shared many sexy photos of herself on Twitter, and she posed for many sexy magazine covers. That's what she does. But she crossed the line with one outfit in particular in Miami when she put on a sheer skirt that completely revealed her bare backside, and wore it out to a steakhouse with her sweetie Kanye West. Khloe crossed the line on the night of her X Factor debut by wearing a shirt that turned into "nipplegate." And mom Kris posted a photo of herself in a Halloween Wonder Woman costume that turned into a "nip slip" moment for the momager. She wound up tweeting to fans, "What's the fuss about? ... Happens to the best of us." Tacky.

Miley Cyrus took a fashion turn that veered into trashland this year. It seemed to start in May at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards when she forgot to wear pants or a shirt - just a white tuxedo jacket. Then, after she cut her hair into a new spiky, short 'do, she seemed to get even more risque with her choices. She was snapped in various tank tops that afforded a nice "sideboob" view. And toward the end of the year, she performed twice in dominatrix looks that included chains, spikes and a bare midriff. We can't wait to see what she wears in 2013.

It's so hard to keep up with Lindsay Lohan and her court troubles. New this year, as opposed to last year's jewelry-theft case, is her June car accident. She told police she wasn't driving, but now they think that might not be true and her probation has been revoked. In addition, she was charged with assault after a woman was hit in the face at a New York nightclub. She already has two court dates in January.

We never thought we'd be saying Elmo had a trashy moment. And to be fair, he didn't. But his voice did. Kevin Clash was accused in four lawsuits of having sex with underage boys. His lawyer has vigoriously denied the charges, and one accuser recanted his allegations. Clash is out of a job, but Sesame Street is still going strong.
