Earlier this week I had the pleasure of directing your attention to a series of The Walking Dead webisodes created by AMC, and now the first trailer for the third season of the hit series has arrived online via TV Guide.
I
really can't say enough good things about this series, as it manages to
provide an entirely original experience for fans of the comic book and
newcomers alike. It's a fine line for the creators of the show to walk,
and thus far they've done a masterful job of keeping things fresh and
new for their audience, no matter how familiar they are with the ongoing
comic.

Judging by the trailer (and all of the promotional
material I've seen) the new season not only brings Rick Grimes and his
fellow survivors to the prison, but also introduces one of the most
notorious comic-book villains created in the last decade or so: The
Governor.
Although AMC has taken a little flak for casting
British actor David Morrissey as the infamous character, I'm withholding
judgement until I see how he brings him to the screen. Of course, I
might be a little biased due to my affinity for any and all actors who
have appeared on Doctor Who. (Hey, at least I admit it.) Fellow
Whovians will remember Morrissey as Jackson Lake, the "other" Doctor in
the 2008 episode "The Next Doctor."
Personally, I'm most looking forward to seeing Danai Gurira as Michonne in the new season of The Walking Dead.
I'm far from alone in counting her as one of my favorite characters in
the series. Between her and the continued growth of Steven Yeun as
Glenn, I'm itching to get back into that post-apocalyptic world and see
where they take the story.
