Hoskins says Parkinson's disease is forcing him to retire.

In a statement released Wednesday through his agent, Hoskins, 69, thanked his fans and said he had had a "wonderful career." He said he was diagnosed with the degenerative nerve condition last fall, reports AP.

"Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time," says the statement.

The Who Framed Roger Rabbit actor was seen earlier this year as one of the seven dwarves in Snow White and The Huntsman.
