The fate of a Snow White and the Huntsman sequel may still up in the air, but Kristen Stewart isn't waiting around.

The Twilight star, whose personal life is prompting new headlines every hour (did you know she and Robert Pattinson are now back on speaking terms? and that she's "hiding out" at her parents' Woodland Hills, Calif., home?), has landed the lead role in an adaptation of William Styron's 1951 novel, Lie Down In Darkness, reports Vulture.

Set in 1950s Virginia, Lie Down will feature Stewart playing troubled Peyton Loftis, a role that Jennifer Lawrence has said she is "obsessed with." But Lawrence is busy with Catching Fire and a new X-Men film.

Darkness has been in development for years by producer Jeff Sharp (You Can Count on Me, Proof), says Vulture. It will be directed by Scott Cooper, who did Crazy Heart. Stewart's agency declined to comment to Vulture on her future film plans.
