"We are very excited to announce that a Muse song, Survival, has been selected by the London Olympic committee to be the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games," says a note on the British rock trio's website.

Frontman Matt Bellamy, also known as Kate Hudson's beau, says the song was written with "the Olympics in mind. It's about total conviction and pure determination to win."

Survival will play during the July 27-Aug. 12 games as athletes enter venues and before medal ceremonies, reports AP. It will debut today on BBC radio.

Last month, the trio carried the Olympic torch through their hometown of Teignmouth in southwest England as part of the flame's 8,000-mile journey to the Games.
